Walking on Sunshine

I am walking on sunshine: a feeling of motivation

As winter draws to a close the sun appears to be shining fiercely. It is a welcoming change.
It urges me on to do things put on hold during the dreary, dull, dark “sun-less” days.

My thoughts veer towards intrinsic motivation.
Is weather a motivator or an excuse? In a state of low motivation, it is effortless and easy to assign blame or shift focus. But does that really help?
Instead, one remains in a state of limbo.

There are however, ways to push oneself out of this stupor.

Accepting the feeling of low motivation and owning it is the first step. It is the moment of conscious awareness of being low, lethargic, unable to meet goals or complete tasks. At that moment you are already poised to make a change.

The next step is around believing in yourself. Moving the focus, the thoughts towards moments in the past when challenging situations were overcome. The strengths that helped overcome, conquer, surpass these situations. Basking in the glory of what had been achieved. Giving a pat on the back for believing in yourself. Believe in yourself now and move ahead!
The sun is already shining brighter!

Finally, it all comes down to maintaining the momentum; pursuing with persistence. Knowing that powerful positive thoughts and the belief in self are guides that will not falter. Moving on at a steady pace using your strengths. Taking continuous short steps towards each goal.

There are always moments of low energy, of lethargy, of disinterest; however, that too shall pass.

“The sun is a daily reminder that we too can rise again from darkness, that we too can shine our own light” – S. Ajna
